Nathaniel is currently an Octant Apprentice on the HT Chem team. Before Octant, he studied The Dark Arts (Chemistry) at Harvey Mudd College with an emphasis in Environmental Analysis. While at Mudd, Nathaniel did research in a variety of fields, including computational chemistry, materials synthesis/characterization, and synthetic organic chemistry. For his undergraduate thesis, he worked in the Vosburg Lab on a collaboration with BMS, determining the effectiveness of TCFH as a coupling reagent for esterifications. Outside of the lab, Nathaniel enjoys fermenting various foods and beverages, experimenting with new recipes, and getting lost in sci-fi and fantasy worlds. If there’s one thing he’s learned in life so far, whether you let him cook in the lab or the kitchen, the results will certainly be interesting.
