Alexia joined Octant in 2024 as an apprentice on the Discovery Biology team. She is currently focused on assay development to further understand p53 biology and characterize compounds that correct p53-variant activity.
Before coming to Octant, Alexia earned an honors bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Harvard College. She developed a strong interest in protein biochemistry after three years of structural biology research in the Léger-Abraham lab located at Harvard Medical School. In the Léger-Abraham lab, Alexia studied protein-protein interactions involved in translation regulation in Leishmania and Plasmodium parasites. In addition to her research, she worked as a campus research ambassador and a course facilitator for introductory molecular biology, genetics, and physics.
Outside the lab, Alexia enjoys playing volleyball, drinking matcha, and exploring new restaurants in the Bay Area.
